The Difference Recycling Makes for the Planet

Responsible recycling has been encouraged by governments, communities, and environmental experts for years. The practice can even earn people extra money if they recycle scrap metals and aluminum cans. It is a simple way to help the environment on many levels. Paper recycling, for example saves trees, water, and electricity. Many people still do not recycle for reasons that have yet to be identified. Statistics According to an ABC series called War on Waste, the highest waste producing Australian State is New South Wales (NSW) with over fifteen thousand tons per year. The statistics revealed how much recyclable materials the average Australian throws out each year. Throwing out recyclables means they sit in landfills. The highest number is 330 kilograms (kg) of paper, followed by 118 kg of plastic and 552 aluminum cans.
